In this article we discover how to take care of the part of the body connected to the third chakra (Manipura) very important for our psycho-physical balance because it is here that we somatize many emotions.
THE SOLAR PLEXUS IN ANATOMY
The solar plexus, this unknown! In anatomy, the solar plexus, also called the celiac plexus (from the Latin coeliăcus, belly) is a complex system of nerves and ganglia of the sympathetic nervous system.
The solar plexus is the part of the nervous system that innervates all the viscera of the abdomen. Plexus means intertwined, reticulated. Solar instead refers to the arrangement of nerve endings that, like sun rays, radiate from this point, covering the abdomen and its viscera.
It is therefore located in the abdominal wall, under the diaphragm and involves organs such as stomach, liver, kidneys, intestines. Pain in the solar plexus can have both physical and emotional origin.
BLOCKED SOLAR PLEXUS SYMPTOMS AND EMOTIONS
A solar plexus where the energy does not flow well manifests itself in some physical ailments (such as poor digestion) but especially in a series of emotions that exhaust us.
That the solar plexus is at a key point of connection between body and psyche is something we have all experienced. When we are agitated, nervous or anxious the solar plexus area reacts accordingly. Our appetite goes away or we are voraciously hungry, digestion can be difficult or the bile from the liver kicks in, we feel burning in the stomach.
The solar plexus is particularly tied to emotions that overheat us: anger, stress, anxiety. This is because this is where our fuel, our energy, the fire that sets the whole body in motion, is produced. But if this energy does not flow well or as is commonly said, the solar plexus is blocked, then this fire instead of lighting us and allow us to succeed and digest emotions, becomes a fire that devastates us, that exhausts us both physically and emotionally.
SOLAR PLEXUS AND THIRD CHAKRA, MANIPURA
The solar plexus corresponds to the seat of the third chakra, Manipura (the city of gems). Its element as mentioned is fire, its color yellow.
This is where we digest the emotions that come from outside, where we realize our idea of success and find the strength to overcome obstacles. The solar plexus is the third and last of the three personal chakras:
(1 Root Chakra - self-esteem, 2 Sacral Chakra - reproduction, 3 Solar Plexus Chakra - self-affirmation)
with the fourth chakra we move to the spiritual dimension with the universal chakras:
(4 Heart Chakra - empathy, 5 Throat Chakra - communication, 6 Third Eye Chakra - vision, 7 Crown Chakra - union)
So it's important that energy flows well in the solar plexus to allow elevation to the spiritual dimension.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE SOLAR PLEXUS
Here are three exercises to take care of your solar plexus
Abdominal breathing: devote 15 to 30 minutes of meditation focusing on abdominal breathing in order to oxygenate the solar plexus area and relax it.
Meditation: meditation allows you to detach yourself from your emotions and observe them. Observing our anxiety, our anger will manage it.
Yoga practice : practicing yoga focusing on asanas that involve the high abdominals (e.g. Navasana, the boat pose) or that relax the bowels (e.g. Trikonasana, the triangle pose).
