Second Chakra, Swadistana, the sacral Chakra

Symbol of the second chakra and where it is located

sacral chakra
We must imagine the Chakras as three-dimensional spheres that pervade and fill our bodies.

About 2 inches below your navel you find the Sacral Chakra, where your inner self resides, the point of communication with the moon, the feminine energy, beauty, the center of your feelings. This chakra governs your pelvis, genital organs, bladder and kidneys, sensuality and sexuality, your desire to procreate.

While in the third Chakra it is the sun and the masculine element that governs the energy, in the sacral Chakra it is the moon (Chandra) that with its cycle of growth and decay moves the masses of water, raises the tides, influences the moods and marks the menstrual cycle is the symbol of this Chakra.

Element of the sacral Chakra: Water

It's easy to see why water is the element of this Chakra. The moon influences the movements of water masses. When we feel emotional we cry, if we get agitated kidneys and bladder are immediately involved. Sexuality is characterized by humors and fluids. The second Chakra is a liquid abode where desires and emotions ebb and flow. As water is the source of life the sacral chakra is the Chakra of creativity and procreation.

The color associated with Swadistana is orange

Orange is the color that represents the desire to fulfill desires, it is the color that stimulates the appetite, the gluttony. Orange is also a color full of energy that represents the urge to procreate to listen to our sexual urges.

When the 2nd chakra is aligned

When energy flows into this Chakra we come to know and love ourselves for who we are. Here resides that self that we need to love, with this Chakra we come to know ourselves in a true and authentic way.

woman - moon

It gives us inside security. This Chakra is strongly feminine, like a woman who puts aside her self to subordinate it to the roles of wife, mother, worker, this Chakra instead is here to remind us to listen to ourselves first. A sane selfhood that serves to be able to then communicate with other people in a positive way. What this Charka whispers to us is:

"You are important, don't forget yourself."

When the second Chakra is in balance we feel a strong sense of self-respect and we can be creative, because Swastana is the Chakra not only of procreation, but also of creativity in general, the artistic one for example.

Signals that indicate that Swadistana is blocked

fear of judgment

When the energy does not flow well in this Chakra at the psychological level we are afraid and anxious about the judgment of others. We are afraid to socialize to open up to others. We don't feel we measure up, we don't like ourselves physically and so we self-censor for fear of rejection.

On a physical level, urinary or genital disorders can arise, cystitis, the need to drink more water to cleanse the kidneys.
